What is SCORE ?

        SCORE is a nonprofit association comprised of over 10,500 volunteer business counselors, organized in over 385 chapters nationwide. Its mission is to provide professional guidance and information to America's existing and emerging small businesses. SCORE members are trained to offer counseling and training to aspiring entrepreneurs and current business owners at no or low cost. SCORE was formed in 1964 and more than 4.5 million Americans have used its services.

SCORE Association is a resource partner of the U.S. Small Business Administration. 

What is SCORE Quad City Chapter 432 ?

        In 1978, several retired business executives and professional people met in the Quad-Cities to discuss how they might use their talents in helping others to start new businesses, or in helping local and area existing businesses become even more successful. SCORE was the vehicle these men and women chose, and a request for recognition by the SCORE National Office was made. The application was approved and the chapter now serves the business needs of the Iowa-Illinois Quad Cities and vicinity.  In June 1997, the Quad Cities Chapter was named National SCORE Chapter of the Year. Two years later, Quad Cities was named Region 5 Chapter of the Year and one of the top ten in the nation.

The Quad Cities SCORE Chapter covers a territory comprising the counties of Scott in Iowa, and Rock Island, Henry, Bureau, Mercer, Lee, Henderson, and Whiteside in Illinois.

What is counseling ?

        SCORE offers free counseling to start-up and established small businesses. Counseling is by appointment with any of the Chapter's 30 counselors. Unlimited follow-on counseling sessions can be scheduled. Counseling locations and times are listed in Counseling. Free counseling by any of 1,200 nationwide email counselors is also offered by email to persons who request it on www.score.org 

What are workshops ?

        SCORE offers workshops shown in Workshops. These all day workshops are presented by SCORE counselors with specific experience and working professionals. They are excellent values at $40 for the entire day.

What  kind of counseling does SCORE provide ?

        SCORE offers free counseling in face-to-face sessions by appointment (see Counseling) and in email responses to inquiries made on www.score.org . SCORE's experienced business experts provide general business advice on every aspect of business, like how to write a business plan, cash flow management, etc. Clients are matched with counselors with specific applicable experience whenever possible.

Are business secrets safe with SCORE ?

Yes. All SCORE counselors keep client information confidential. They sign and abide by the SCORE Code of Ethics.

How many people has SCORE helped ?

Since 1964, SCORE has helped over 4.5 million entrepreneurs and small businesses. It provides about 360,000 business services a year.
